I enroled at college today. It was a big less bueucratic than I thought. Now if you don't know, this college has a 'card' system where you need to have an ID card on a little string.
So I sat down for a pic for my card. The guy took the pic, the photo was taken and the card printed out. I looked at the pic and guess what!
I LOOK LIKE AN AXE MURDERER....
Is that a bad sign?
Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. What's your strongest memory or impression of King's contributions?
OK, my pc is down, so I'm stuck with the family PC and Web cafes. But it's not too bad.
I have a good load of web apps at my disposal. That's the AWESOME part about web 2.0! So, shall I dive in?
Meebo
An awesome little Web based IM client, set out on a desktop style enviroment. Can be used with MSN, AIM, Jabber, GTalk, yahoo and a few more. It can be used anywhere and is really handy. They also have an iPod/iPhone version.
iGoogle
iGoogle lets you see your RSS feeds, and place various widgets on a home page. Good if you read a lot of blogs...
Google documents
An online office suite (yeah, office suite), Lets you export documents into different formats. Also good for storing office documents and schoolwork.
Viddler
Youtube is FULL OF SHITE! SERIOUSLY! It's good if you want 30 second clips of TV shows and slideshows of family guy, but not if you have a load of video clips from a holiday and want to show them to the world, or if you are a video blogger who what's a youtube alternitive. You can set videos to private, download videos, and even put in timed comments. The only catch? All videos must be your own (they are strict about that, so no clip show).
So there you go, how to survive as a web hobo. :)
OK, so I was on my ipod checking the net (my laptop is still fucked), and I looked at apple's iPod touch mini-site. They had made new apps availible for the iPod touch!!!
I imedietly went downstairs, turned on the family PC and downloaded the new update. But when the update was finished and I restarted my iPod, did I see the mail app?
No
Did I see google maps?
No...
Turns out you have to PAY for the apps! >.<
And Yes, I haven't jailbroke it yet, Really I don't want to. I'm toooo lazy :P
Still, I'm angry they didn't include the apps with the update. You have to PAY for them! Two words came out my mouth when I relised that fact....
FUCK OFF!!!
Damn you apple...
My Laptop has given up the ghost.
It's power input is now refused to let in power and the battery is flatter than a pancake. I am now in effect an internet hobo...
I am currently using the family laptop (windows XP, how I hates it). Hopefully, I will get it repaired....hopefully.
There's been talk of a macbook nano. This personally makes me drool. The idea of a small (an I hope cheap) laptop is something for any geek to drool over (Asus eeePC is an example), but with MAC OS X, my dream (could) come true.
Ok, so I have some linux friends who are quite anti Proprietary, but OS X Is so well designed it one of my favorite OSes.
PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESE MR JOBS! LET THIS BE TRUE....FOR ONCE...!
Update, it seems very likely that there will be a macbook nano
OK, there's a a lot of people who want to become 'Famous' and 'Traditional' artists, but the Guerrilla and Alt art scene can be just as fulfilling.
OK, the easiest art scene is by far photography, and it doesn't even need to be anything fancy. I personally use a Sony Cybershot P&C camera and I get some awesome results. But you can do some really good stuff with a phone camera (yeah, you heard me).
What you take photos of is up to you, from set up scenes to completely random events. Try different angles and positions as well, like this photo here...
That was taken at the Glasgow science center...
Another easy thing is performance art. A nice little example is the free hugs campaign. all you need is a sign with 'free hugs' and some arms! This both cheers you up and people you hug.
If hugging people doesn't light your candle (or that you just don't have arms) try Guerrilla art in it's many forms...
In guerrilla art you may need some imagination. Guerrilla art is about being subversive. So, you can try things like book drops (where you get a book, put a label in it with 'this book was previously owned by... please pass it on), or the old message in a bottle, where you leave a message for a stranger.
It's been frosty lately, so taken to writing and drawing in the frost. Anything that comes to mind. Give peace a chance, peace symbols, Peace love and Linux, and also...
if power_of_love => love_of_power
puts 'The world knows peace'
end
Yeah, code with a message, bitches.
Art can also be made in the virtual world. Easter eggs, (like the one above you) can be added to code and send around the world. Web design and photoshop (both awesome forms). My favorite has got to be telnet starwars...
Just type
telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl
in a command line window on windows, mac or linux and watch the fun. n_n
